  • CIA Basketball Head Coach Peter Stefonowich

    Peter Stefonowich has been coaching basketball in the area for 30 years. In that time he has worked at the High School, AAU, and College levels.

    He coached high school basketball at FDR, Ketcham, Our Lady of Lourdes, Pawling, and Webutuck. While at Webutuck his team won the Dutchess County Coaches Association Championship and finished in the section final four, four years in a row. Stefonowich was named Dutchess County Coach of the Year in 2005 while at Webutuck.

    During his time coaching locally he founded and runs one of the largest AAU programs in the area Elite Basketball of the Hudson Valley. His program worked with boys and girls teaching the game. The program worked with kindergarten students all the way through high school seniors. He organized 3x3 and 5x5 leagues, individual and small group workouts, and travel teams. Some of the coaches that worked in the program went on to work as college coaches at places like Boston University, Alfred University, and Northeastern. One of the coaches from the program currently works as an assistant in the NBA.

    Stefonowich coached at the college level at Dutchess Community College as a Head Coach and SUNY New Paltz as an assistant for Dagan Nelson. He worked at the Hoop Group coaching at their prestigious Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp now called Elite Camp and has been to clinics at Duke University and the University of North Carolina.

    Stefonowich is married to his wife Cristina and has two children Piper and Parker. His family lives in Hyde Park, NY.
